Lux to Lumens Converter
How it works
Lumens (Φ, lm) measure luminous flux and are related to illuminance (E, lux) and area (A, m²) by: Φ (lm) = E (lx) × A (m²). Choose direct area or provide dimensions (length × width). Unit conversions (cm², ft², cm, ft) are handled automatically.
How many lumens is 1 lux?
By definition, 1 lux = 1 lumen per square meter. This means if you have a surface area of 1 m² and it’s illuminated with 1 lux, it receives exactly 1 lumen of light.
How to Convert Lux to Lumens
The relationship between lux and lumens is based on surface area:
Lumens = Lux × Area (in square meters)
If you know the lux level and the area it covers, you can quickly find the lumens.
Lux to Lumens Converter Formula
The basic formula is:
Lumens = Lux × Area (m²)
For example, if you have 200 lux lighting over a 10 m² room:
Lumens = 200 × 10 = 2,000 lumens
Examples
100 lux to lumens
For 100 lux over 5 m²:
Lumens = 100 × 5 = 500 lumens
1000 lux to lumens
For 1000 lux over 2 m²:
Lumens = 1000 × 2 = 2000 lumens
10000 lux to lumens
For 10000 lux over 0.5 m²:
Lumens = 10000 × 0.5 = 5000 lumens
200 lux to lumens
For 200 lux over 8 m²:
Lumens = 200 × 8 = 1600 lumens
12000 lux to lumens
For 12000 lux over 0.25 m²:
Lumens = 12000 × 0.25 = 3000 lumens
300 lux to lumens
For 300 lux over 6 m²:
Lumens = 300 × 6 = 1800 lumens
5000 lux to lumens
For 5000 lux over 1 m²:
Lumens = 5000 × 1 = 5000 lumens
500 lux to lumens
For 500 lux over 4 m²:
Lumens = 500 × 4 = 2000 lumens
